Air Tech Italy Member Softech has been providing environmental monitoring systems for airports around the world for more than 30 years now.
Sustainability is one of the key challenges for airports worldwide with a clear need to manage and monitor the impact on the environment (noise, air quality, weather, indoor parameters, etc.) including the management of aircraft ground movements (ADS-B technology) and GSE tracking.
Recently Indian based Cochin Airport, an international airport serving the city of Kochi, Kerala, in southwestern India selected Softech to supply a noise monitoring system.
Softech will be supplying its key solution SARA, a highly specialized system for the monitoring of noise at the airport. It is equipped with fixed and mobile control units that continuously collect noise data from aircrafts and analyses it with its unique software.
The SARA solution will automatically and continuously collect the acoustic data coming from the monitoring terminals and then correlate it with the aeronautical activities (flight tracks by ADS-B technology). It creates the reports and indices required by current regulations including a soil acoustic impact.
The airport of Cochin has been a long-time champion of sustainability.
In 2015, the airport became the world’s first fully solar-powered airport with the inauguration of a dedicated solar plant. For this approach, the airport won the coveted Champion of the Earth award in 2018, the highest environmental honor instituted by the United Nations and lately the airport was awarded The Best Airport in Asia-Pacific in 2020 (in the 5 to 15 million passengers range) by the Airports Council International.
Softech also supported the airport with the pre-installation of the Noise Mapping activity and post-installation professional services guaranteeing a perfect implementation and a long-term use of the system by the airport staff.
