Every year a special jury at the Saudi Airport Exhibition organizes a competition that focuses on Airport Excellence. This year the jury awarded four of our Members with special awards.
Reco 3.26 won an award for the category Airport Security for its FACE2FLY solution . The FACE2FLY is a system for the intelligent management of passenger flows, from airport access to boarding, using face recognition! The passenger can be identified via the Welcome Kiosk, located at the airport entrance. He can then cross the airport and board at the gate, without having to use a travel document or ticket again. The solution is installed in the main Italian airports including Aeroporto di Catania Fontanarossa and Milan Bergamo Airport. Reco 3.26 wants to extend a special thanks to our other Member, the ForteSecurGroup and Alessia Forte and Andrea Forte, for the great partnership.
ForteSecurGroup won an award in the same category Airport Security for its BeST® or Behind Search Technique, an innovative security screening method initially developed for anti-terrorism training to enhance effectiveness, operator safety, and deterrence at high-risk sites like embassies and refineries. It was later adapted to comply with European airport security directives for screening passengers, crew, and staff. While rooted in traditional methods, BeST® stands out by integrating multiple techniques to prioritize safety, operator protection, and privacy, offering a less invasive approach to security checks. Another award in the same category was given to Air Tech Italy member CIAS, our Member has been recognized in the Airport Security category for its SIOUX Pro2 system. Numerous international airports use this advanced fence-mounted perimeter security system, which employs MEMS sensors to detect fence cutting, climbing, and displacement attempts. SIOUX Pro2’s intelligent analysis, powered by Fuzzy Logic Algorithms, pinpoints intrusion locations with 1-meter accuracy across any fence type. It also features a redundancy function to resist short circuits and offers easy plug-and-play installation without screws. Fully integrable with major CCTV and access control brands, SIOUX Pro2 is a scalable, reliable solution that enhances airport safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Finally our Member Leonardo won the Baggage Handling Award for its crossbelt technology. This technology revolutionizes airport Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) by enhancing efficiency, reliability, and overall operational performance. This advanced system enables precise and rapid sorting of various baggage types, significantly reducing congestion and improving passenger flow. Key features such as high-speed transfer capabilities, intrinsic redundancy to maintain operations during component failures, and a focus on reliability minimize downtime and operational disruptions, providing a seamless and consistent service for airports.
The crossbelt technology also emphasizes sustainability and ease of operation. With low noise emissions, it creates a quieter airport environment, enhancing passenger comfort and reducing noise-related stress for staff. Furthermore, it is designed for energy efficiency, reducing power consumption and supporting environmentally conscious airport operations. Easy maintainability ensures reduced downtime and lower operational costs, making it a practical and cost-effective solution for modern airport needs. By addressing critical operational challenges, Leonardo Automation’s crossbelt system sets a new standard for baggage handling, combining performance and reliability to elevate airport efficiency and traveler satisfaction.
